Energy Massage

Reiki, a Japanese technique for relaxation and healing, is a form or Energy work that is very popular in America today. Hand positions can be held lightly, on the body for several minutes. Reiki is primarily about filling and balancing the body's energy reservoirs. This allows for the movement of psychological blockages in the person, a feeling of well being and relaxation to occur.

Polarity is another form of energy work used here at Magic Hands Therapeutic Massage. Polarity is the energy technique developed and made popular by Dr. Randolph Stone. It uses gentle rocking motions in addition to hand positions similar to those used in Reiki, to gently release tension and relieve pain. Polarity concentrates on the energy connections within the body.

Both Polarity and Reiki can be used to balance the chakras. The concept of chakras or body energy centers comes from the Hindu or Ayurvedic traditions.

Shiatsu or Accupressure are also used as an energy modality. Shiatsu uses the same maridian and tsubos as accupuncture but does not pierce the skin. Instead light or firm pressure is applied to the points or tsubos using the fingers, thumbs or elbows. When using elbows or other deeper techniques, accupressure also qualifies as a deep tissue technique.
